A frustrating and equally challenging couple of events in Taiwan 🇹🇼 I was unable to bring back the results I wanted to produce this week, but that’s tennis. The humidity proved a big challenge, but we persevered and did our best given the circumstances. In the first event, after overcoming a 3 hour battle in the QF, I wasn’t able to find my level in the SF. The doubles brought another chance of silverware, however, despite having a pair of set points during the opening set of the final, we ended up losing in straight sets, 5-7 2-6. In the second event, I successfully navigated my way through to the singles SF, before losing out in a 3.5 hour marathon. This was a difficult result to take, having squandered a 5-3 lead and a set point in the set breaker, I fought off 10 match points to get myself back to 4-5 in the second set, but it was in vain, eventually being taken down 6-7(6) 4-6. Another final in the doubles, but I couldn’t better the result of the previous week. I struggled to find my way into the match, and a lack of conviction during key moments cost us, losing out in a match tiebreak 6-7(1) 6-4 10-5. 🏆 JTCC Wheelchair Championships 🏆 I guess winning your first ITF3 Singles and Doubles titles is an alright substitute for not participating in the Paralympics. Of course it’s a shame not to be in 🇫🇷 right now, but I can only do what is in front of me. Perhaps it wasn’t the strongest ITF3 draw I’ve experienced, but certainly more than pleased with the result that will be reflected in a good ranking boost for both singles and doubles next week. It didn’t come easy as despite having a 6-3 3-1 lead in my semi final, I started feeling unwell which led to me finding myself a point away from 2-5 in the final set. Experience helped me prevail and was followed up by an improved performance in the final. Despite a 5-1 lead in the doubles final, narrow margins meant we found ourselves 5-6 down, but we managed to stabilise and narrowly close out the opening set. A few costly mistakes on key points meant we got 1-3 down in the 2nd, however, small improvements changed the rhythm of the match and we managed to close it out in straight sets. Time to head back across the pond for🇨🇭next week. After having a bye in the first round, I won the QF 6-1 6-0. In the SF, I played the no. 2 seed, I started well, taking the set 6-2. In the second set, I found myself 5-1 up, however I struggled

Genoa Cup 🇮🇹 ✅ Singles and Doubles 🏆🏆 Singles: After having a bye in the first round, I won the QF 6-1 6-0. In the SF, I played the no. 2 seed, I started well, taking the set 6-2. In the second set, I found myself 5-1 up, however I struggled to close out the match. I managed to save break point at 5-3 to eventually take the win 6-2 6-3. The final was against the no. 1 seed. I managed to take the first break of the match, and had points for 5-3, however I couldn’t take them, however, one trade of breaks later, I had an opportunity to serve out the set at 5-4. I made too many mistakes and gave away a number of cheap points and let the set run away from me. The second set started far better for me, I took a quick 4-0 lead, and this time took my chances and took the set 6-1. In the final set, I got broken immediately, and although I managed to steady the momentum, my opponent had an opportunity to take a commanding 4-1 lead. However I managed to play a couple of key points well and I used the momentum to recover the break. Despite getting broken again, my confidence grew and I started being clinical at the right times and took the win 5-7 6-1 6-4. Doubles: In the SF, in what was a potentially challenging opening match, and playing with @nicolas.charrier.100 for the first time, we did what we needed to do and we won it 6-2 6-3. Paris 2024 🇫🇷 I have to confirm the unfortunate news that I was not selected to compete at the Paralympics Games this summer. I’m obviously disappointed to not make it when I had achieved the direct qualification ranking, and had I been part of almost any other nation, I would’ve been able to participate in the games, which is definitely infuriating. However, there are so many positives for me to take forwards into the future; Until 16 months ago, I didn’t even know if I would be allowed to ever compete internationally again or at least only after 2025. I was never expected to have come close to qualifying for Paris, with the earliest possibility for me being in LA, so to be within touching distance is a little bitter, but also a huge positive and demonstrates my accelerated progression over the past few years. Although the Paralympics will always be a dream of mine, I always knew it would be a struggle to make this years event. With the strength of TeamGB, the required goalpost was significantly higher for me than the international standard, making it far more difficult to personally achieve qualification. I have always maintained that I can only do what’s in my control, and I always knew realistically there was minimal chance that I’d be able to get my ranking high enough to go to Paris. Subsequently, my goal was to achieve only the direct qualification ranking (~world no. 39). It is so difficult to compete with players who often have significant financial backing who are able to play events continuously throughout the Paralympic qualification year, and while I have done my best, without going further afield, and more frequently to play the highest level events, it’s hard to gain ranking points over other similarly ranked players. Nevertheless, I still managed to achieve my goal, with the ranking of world no. 38. There’s still an unlikely possibility that I could go to Paris, which is only because I managed to achieve the direct ranking criteria, however this is now entirely out of my control. I eventually sealed the first set, before having a poor start to the second set leaving myself too much to do. I started the third set positively, however, I allowed myself to lose 5 games on the bounce and left myself an insurmountable mountain to climb. In the consolation, I won my opening match 7-6(4) 3-6 10-6, before winning the final 7-6(4) 6-4. Doubles: In the opening round we faced a tough but winnable match. We had a slow start, but managed to play our way into the match and eventually came out on top 7-6(4) 6-3. In the QF we faced the no. 1 seeds. We put up a good fight but couldn’t take enough opportunities. Swiss Open: Singles: Another disappointing first round loss, 1-6 6-7(4), I struggled to maintain my focus during the first set and let it get away from me too quickly. In the second set I had a 5-2 lead but didn’t take my chances at key moments. In the consolation, I did everything that I needed to do and won both the SF and Final 6-0 6-0. Doubles: We gave it a good go, however we lacked being clinical which cost us as the match ran away too quickly.
